Cystoscopy & Ultrasound Tests

Cystoscopy involves the insertion of a small telescopic camera through the urethra and into the bladder. This enables us to view the inside of your bladder and urethra on a television monitor. This test is performed in the office and does not require any sedation. In fact, you can actually watch the procedure as we perform it. During this examination, we will fill your bladder with water and then look for the cause of your symptoms. The test takes approximately 45 minutes and you will know immediately after the test what we have found.

Ultrasound tests may also be recommended to look for gynecologic problems in the uterus or ovaries and to evaluate the structure of the kidneys. These tests are very useful for patients with blood in their urine or abnormal bleeding from their vagina.
